Mother Charged with Daughter's Death

|

Tragedy has struck several times over in the case of a woman who is now being charged with the death of her daughter. Karen Honeycutt, who has already been convicted of drunk driving, is now being slapped with second-degree murder for the crash responsible for killing her 9-year-old daughter.

On Jan. 21 Honeycutt was driving at speeds of up to 100 mph when she lost control of her Jeep Grand Cherokee and hit a tree and a light pole in Temecula. Her daughter Chloe was not wearing a seat belt and as a result, was ejected from the car. Her other two children, an 8-year-old and a 17-year-old sons, were present and injured in the crash.

In addition to second-degree murder Honeycutt is being charged with drunken driving and gross vehicular manslaughter. Since she already has several previous convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol prosecutors are hoping to get sentencing enhancement. At this time Honeycutt is being held in a hospital jail ward.
