John Stamos Charged With DUI

LOS ANGELES – Actor John Stamos, star of the Fox sitcom, Grandfathered, has officially been charged with driving under the influence of drugs, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced on Thursday, Oct. 15.

Stamos, 52, is facing a misdemeanor charge, stemming from his DUI arrest in Beverly Hills, California on June 12, 2015, the prosecutor’s office said. The DA’s office has not specified which substance was found in Stamos’ system following his arrest.

In a statement, the prosecutor’s office said that Stamos was arrested after witnesses reported him driving erratically and behaving strangely. A month after his arrest, Stamos entered a residential rehab facility for substance abuse.

If Stamos is convicted of driving under the influence of drugs (DUID), he faces up to six months in county jail, according to the district attorney’s office. His arraignment was set for Friday, Oct. 16 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, said the DA’s office.

Stamos’ Acting Career

Stamos is an American actor and musician, best known for his role as Jesse Katsopolis on ABC’s sitcom Full House. From 2006 to 2009, he had a starring role on NBC’s medical drama ER, where he played Dr. Tony Gates.

Since 2011, Stamos has appeared in several commercials for Dannon’s Greek yogurt Oikos, including a Super Bowl commercial that aired during the 2012 Super Bowl.

Currently, Stamos stars with Paget Brewster and Josh Peck on Grandfathered, a Fox sitcom that debuted this fall.
