On June 23, 2015, an alleged DUI driver was arrested after a fatal collision in Garden Grove that left a woman and her dog dead, according to Garden Grove Police.

At around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday evening, near the intersection of Faye and Chapman avenues, a woman was riding an adult-sized tricycle with her dog sitting in an attached basket, when she was struck by a pickup truck, according to a news release issued by the Garden Grove Police Department.

In the news release, police officials said that the force of the crash knocked the tricycle down and threw the basket with the woman’s dog, before it landed a short distance from the crash scene.

The victim, who is unidentified, was said to be in her 50s. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Orange County Animal Services transported the dog to a local animal hospital where it was later pronounced dead as a result of its injuries.
