Country Singer Lynn Anderson Arrested on DUI Charges

Grammy Singer Has History of DUI Arrests

Nashville police arrested country singer Lynn Anderson for a DUI after involvement in a crash. The 66-year-old singer showed signs of impairment when officers arrived at the scene of an accident and asked Anderson to perform a field sobriety test. Anderson claimed to have taken prescription medication and consumed alcohol the night of the crash. She was released from jail on a $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court November 20.

Remorse Regarding the DUI Charges

A statement released by the singer expressed remorse for her actions and a dedication to recovery. The singer has gone to rehab for alcohol addiction and this is not the first time she has been charged with a DUI.

In 2004, Anderson was arrested in Denton, Texas after being found passed out in a car on the side of a highway. Another driver had called the police on Anderson after her car was seen weaving through traffic and followed her car until she pulled over on the side of the road. An officer woke Anderson to perform a field sobriety test and arrested her.

Anderson rose to fame in the 1970's when her song "(I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden" won her a Grammy. In 1971, the Country Music Association named her vocalist of the year.
