OC Sheriff's Department Announces Planned DUI Checkpoints & Patrols for Fourth of July Weekend

This week, we've been reminding Orange County residents who plan on celebrating the Fourth of July to be prepared for checkpoints and patrols. We've stressed that this time of year sees some of the highest rates of alcohol-related accidents, injuries, and death and also provided a few tips about avoiding a DUI this Independence Day.

If you and your loved ones plan on celebrating the holiday weekend with drinks, remember to do so responsibly. On Tuesday July 2nd, the Orange County Sheriff's Department issued a news release detailing its plans for increased DUI enforcement this weekend as part of its "Avoid the 38" DUI Task Force.

According to Orange County authorities, DUI and driver's license checkpoints will be held in the following cities:

  • Buena Park
  • Cypress
  • Irvine
  • Laguna Niguel

DUI saturation patrols will be deployed in the following locations:

  • Anaheim
  • Brea
  • Irvine
  • Orange
  • Westminster
  • CSU Fullerton

The Orange County Sheriff's Department further stated that patrols will be deployed in a number of other local cities within the Department's contract area. Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will also be on the lookout for drunk drivers on local freeways and county roads.

The enforcement period is expected to last throughout the weekend. It is also important to remember that other cities and counties throughout the state and country will be cracking down on DUIs as well. If you are going out of town, law enforcement will likely be looking for signs of drunk drivers as well.

The Law Offices of Virginia L. Landry, Inc. hopes you and your loved ones have a safe and fun Fourth of July. If you or someone you know is arrested for driving under this influence, you can trust our team of Orange County DUI lawyers to fight on your behalf.
