News sources say that a professional athlete has been formally charged with driving under the influence (DUI). Last month Darrius Heyward-Bey was pulled over by police on the San Francisco Bay-Oakland Bridge on suspicion of DUI. The pro football player was witnessed speeding and weaving in and out of traffic on the bridge by a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer. The 25-year-old was given field sobriety tests, which he failed, and submitted to a breath test. The results of his blood alcohol content have not been released to the public at this time.
Heyward-Bey is currently playing for the Oakland Raiders. He started his professional career with the team in 2009 after being a first-round pick.
