A Zoo on Wheels Leads to a DUI Arrest

When people are under the influence of alcohol, they may do all sorts of things that aren't typical. One man in Iowa caused police officers to give pause when they discovered a small zebra and a macaw parrot along for a ride in his truck. The intoxicated driver, a man with the initials J.R., told the officers that the parrot and zebra were his friends, and that he brought them into the bar with him. The bartender would not allow the zoo animals to stay, so J.R. put them back in his truck while he had a few drinks. The police caught J.R. as he was driving away with his striped and feathered friends in the passenger seats.

When given a field sobriety test, the police found that J.R. had a BAC of .14 percent. That's almost twice the legal limit. He was arrested and charged with a DUI. When interviewed, J.R.'s girlfriend said the zebra and the parrot are their pets, and are almost a part of the family. J.R. is currently fighting his charge, saying that he was about to let a passenger take the wheel right before the police arrived. He admits that he was drunk, but does not admit that he was operating the vehicle when he was discovered. If you have been charged with a DUI, you need reliable representation. There are many ways to dispute a DUI and lessen or eradicate your charges. Hire an Orange County DUI defense attorney today! Click here to get started.
