California to Offer Some Leniency with Traffic Tickets

States across the country are feeling the crunch of the poor economy and reports indicate that one state is trying a new way to collect funds for its traffic programs.

California has enacted a new program this month that will be available in all 58 counties. If you have a traffic ticket that is at least three years overdue, you could be eligible to pay off that ticket for just half the price.

In order to qualify for the program, you:

  • must have failed to appear in court/pay the ticket in full
  • must have a ticket due to be paid before January 1, 2009 or you must have made your last payment before January 1, 2009
  • must not owe restitution to a victim associated with the ticket
  • must not have any outstanding felony or misdemeanor warrants

The only tickets that are not eligible under the program are DUI tickets, parking tickets or reckless driving tickets.

DUI penalties can range in severity from tickets to jail time. Therefore, if you have been charged with DUI, don't wait to contact the Law Offices of Virginia L. Landry to enlist the help of an Orange County DUI lawyer who can help you contest your charges.
