Bus Driver Transporting Kids was DUI

Parents were shocked to learn that a school bus driving taking their children to Yellowstone National Park was driving under the influence. Now they are even more surprised to learn that the driver, 44-year-old Jack Kane Parrent Jr., had been arrested three times prior for the same offense.

A careful search revealed that Parrent had been convicted of DUI in 1991, then again in 2001; he was charged with DUI back in 1998 in Vancouver, Wash. The last arrest netted an arrest warrant for Parrent, which has yet to be served. This most current arrest, however, was for transporting students from a Bozeman middle school to the national park. When a ranger witnessed the bus crossing the center line multiple times, the driver was pulled over.

The arresting officer found Parrent's blood-alcohol level to be 0.91, above the legal limit. Another bus driver following Parrent, 42-year-old Kevin Leon Stark, as also arrested for DUI on the same trip. They have also been charged with reckless endangerment and recklessly creating a public jeopardy.
