Woman Hits Biker While DUI

In Ramona, police from the California Highway Patrol say they arrested a woman on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after she crashed into a bicyclist with her SUV this past weekend.

According to police reports, 32-year-old Suzanne Reed hit the biker at 8:50 PM while he was cycling near Main Street and Kalbaugh Street.  Unfortunately, the 54-year-old bicyclist, David Bruce Menea, died at the scene of the DUI accident said officers.

After crashing into Menea, the driver of the SUV hit a parked Volkswagen, pushing right into the side of a nearby liquor store.  The vehicle did not enter the store, but the woman who was inside suffered cuts to her leg said police.  Two passengers inside the Volkswagen also sustained minor injuries.

At this time, the crash investigation remains ongoing.  Officers say other charges may be filed against the drunk driver once the investigation is complete.
