According to Sacramento authorities, a veteran deputy sheriff who has been with the department for 17 years was recently arrested for driving under the influence. Reports state that because of these accusations he is being placed on administrative leave pending the investigation though he will be receive pay during this time. According to a local California Highway Patrol Officer, the 41 year old Chuck Lawrence Pfau was involved in a collision with a 63 year old woman. It is said that the officer was not on duty at the time of the accident and claims that the other woman stopped while in the left lane in order to make a turn.
Officer Pfau allegedly crossed over the double yellow lines illegally to pass the woman who then made her turn while he was in the process of passing her vehicle. The suspect’s truck crashed directly into the driver’s side door, and immediately they both pulled off to the side of the road and waited for a CHP officer to arrive. The time the on duty officer arrived; they conducted a field sobriety test, and concluded that Chuck Pfau was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.
Reports say that the passengers in the other vehicle received no injuries due to the speeds both cars were going, though their car was towed due to some damages. While there is no update as to whether or not Officer Pfau will be officially charged with a DUI unknown, though with the property legal defense team it is more likely.
