The DUI Court is a pilot program in California. If you are a second or third offender, it is possible that you can go to DUI Court instead of custody.
There is a process in Orange County called a DUI court and it's a pilot program for the state but it's doing well here. So if you are a second or multiple offender you may be eligible by a screening process to go through DUI court. You will attend programs, alcohol education programs, a mothers against drug driving panel meeting, you will meet with a psychologist, a psychiatrist, someone from the probation department and the health care agency and if you successfully complete that program, you may never have to go into custody. It is an education program for you to help with eliminating any jail that you might otherwise face if convicted for a DUI.
