Orange County DUI Queen, Virginia L. Landry speaks about second offense DUI consequences.
On a second offense, driving under the influence, there are fines and a probationary length three to five years. The length of an alcohol education program is eighteen months which is basically one time per week plus face to face meetings with an individual counselor and alcoholic anonymous meetings. After one year, the program drops down to one time per month. You must successfully complete that program before you have full reinstatement of your license privilege. On a second offense, the court, although they will not take away your license, notifies the department of motor vehicles of the conviction and then the DMV can impose a two year suspension of your license. After one year, you would be eligible to have a restricted license if you have an ignition interlock device placed on your car.
