Orange County DUI Queen, Virginia L. Landry speaks about what can happen if you are convicted with a First-Offense DUI.
If you are convicted of a first offense DUI, you will have fines to pay, a probationary length from three to five years, a mothers against drunk driving panel meeting, an alcohol education program for three, sex or nine months, but in some circumstances, could be longer. If you are under twenty one, you will have an additional program to go through. If you have refused to take a test, it is mandatory jail. Although the court won't take away your driver's license, they will let the department of motor vehicles know and then you will be eligible for a restricted license allowing you to drive to, from and during the course of your work and to and from the alcohol education program but that is completely separate from anything that happens is regard to the DMVs process against you.
