Are you a football fan? If so, you’re probably looking forward to
Super Bowl Sunday. This year’s game will be held on February 7 in
Santa Clara, California at the Levi’s® Stadium. Since Super
Bowl Sunday is a huge drinking day, we want to warn you about the risks
of drinking and driving on the biggest football day of the year.
If you’re hosting a Super Bowl party, make sure you act as the team
captain! Be on high alert for guests who may try to drive home drunk and
be sure to have a game plan ahead of time.
You can ask that your guests designate a sober driver before the party
starts, or you can help them get rides home with sober drivers. If you
aren’t a drinker, you can offer to give your guests a safe ride home.
Before the party you can download the app for a ride-sharing service, such
as Uber or Lyft, and you can have the phone numbers of local cab companies
on hand. That way, you can easily arrange rides for any of your guest
who attempt to drive home after drinking.
Are you the designated driver?
If you have agreed to be the designated driver and you’re headed
to a Super Bowl party or a sports bar, don’t let your friends down
by drinking. You can still enjoy the party while drinking non-alcoholic
When you climb behind the wheel, don’t forget to wear your seatbelt
and ensure that all of your passengers do the same. If you spot someone
who you know has been drinking and they try to drive, grab their keys
and ensure they find a safe ride home.
When You Plan to Drink
If you are planning on drinking, don’t drive. It’s better to
spend the night on the host’s couch, catch a ride from Uber or Lyft,
or have a sober driver take you home than it is to risk a
DUI, or worse,
If you want to drink on Super Bowl Sunday, plan ahead. Figure out what
you’re going to do to avoid drinking and driving. Whether that means
walking home or hitching a ride from someone who won’t be drinking
at all, anything’s better than risking a DUI or a crash on game day.
If you or someone you love is arrested for DUI on Super Bowl Sunday, or
any other day of the year and you’re looking for a hard-hitting defense,
