Jeremih turned 28 on Friday, July 17, so many speculate that he was out
celebrating his birthday. On Friday night, the “Don’t Tell
‘Em” singer was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol
around 2:15 a.m. in the Valley, and arrested on suspicion of driving under
the influence (DUI).
The R&B star was charged with misdemeanor
DUI and spent the night behind bars. Jeremih’s bail was set for a whopping
$15,000, but that amount wasn’t an issue for the musician, who was
released the following morning around 11 a.m.
Jeremih proved that he wasn’t going to let a DUI stop him from celebrating
his birthday over the weekend. After spending the night behind bars, he
didn’t spend the rest of the weekend pondering his decisions at
home. Instead, he drove to San Diego and continued ringing in his 28th
birthday at Parq Restaurant & Nightclub.
Jeremih is From Chicago’s South Side
Jeremih was born and raised on Chicago’s South Side. The R&B
singer taught himself how to play several instruments, and before a well-received
performance at a talent show, he didn’t see himself as a vocalist.
At Chicago’s Columbia College, Jeremih became partners with producer
Mick Schultz, and the two collaborated on Jeremih’s debut album,
which was released in June of 2009 on Def Jam.
His first single, “Birthday Sex,” debuted on Billboard’s
R&B/Hip Hop Singles chart in March and by mid-May, it was in the Top Ten.
Jeremih, the singer’s self-titled album, produced entirely by Schultz,
was released in late June 2009. By the release of the album, “Birthday
Sex” was on the Top Ten of the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2010, two more of Jeremih’s songs, “Down on Me” and
“I Like” landed on the Top 30 of the R&B Hip Hop Singles chart.
