GLENDALE, Calif. – On Monday, Dec. 21, a former Nickelodeon star
was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, said the Glendale police.
Drake Bell, 29, of the hit TV show,
Drake and Josh, was arrested for DUI at 2:18 a.m. Monday after one of Glendale’s
patrol officers observed Bell driving at an unsafe speed and straddling
lanes near San Fernando Road and Western Avenue, said Glendale Police
Department’s Public Information Officer Tahnee Lightfoot.
A native of Newport Beach, Bell attended Orange County School of the Arts
in Santa Ana. The actor is best known for his starring role on
Drake and Josh, which ran from 2004 to 2007 on Nickelodeon.
According to the
Orange County Register, Bell was followed by the police northbound on Western Avenue until he
turned onto San Fernando Road. He was stopped near West Doran Street.
As the officer approached Bell’s vehicle, the officer noticed the
odor of alcohol, Lightfoot said. At that point Bell was asked to perform
a field sobriety test, which he failed.
Bell was arrested for
DUI and taken into custody. He was released from jail 10 hours later and given
a citation to appear in court.
On Dec. 29, 2005, Bell was badly injured when he was hit head-on by another
vehicle while driving along Pacific Coast Highway in Los Angeles, the
Associated Press reported.
In that incident, Bell had to be hospitalized after suffering a fractured
jaw and several cuts, according to the AP.
