In early September, a video was posted to YouTube showing a woman pushing
her boyfriend off a scooter in Huntington Beach. The video received millions
of views after it was uploaded. As a result, the woman in the video was
charged with driving under the influence of methamphetamines.
Not a One-Time Incident for Huntington Beach Couple
The video shows a man on an electric scooter behind a pickup truck in an
alley. The man asked the woman to relax, but the woman got out of the
car, yelled at the man, and knocked him off of the scooter onto the concrete.
The woman then got into the car and backed over the scooter.
The neighbor that recorded the video said that instances such as this are
extremely common with the couple. She did not expect that the video would
lead to the arrest but hopes it may bring peace to the neighborhood.
The driver was stopped by Huntington Beach Police shortly after the video
was taken. She is facing four years in jail for driving under the influence
of drugs with a prior conviction, use of a controlled substance, domestic
violence battery, vandalism, and the enhancement of a 2013 conviction
for driving under the influence of drugs. It was determined that the woman
was high on methamphetamines when the incident occurred.
The boyfriend in the video claims that he was attempting to stop the woman
from driving under the influence when he got behind the truck. He is not
claiming to be injured in the incident and does not want the woman to
face prosecution for her damages to him or his scooter.
