UFC fighter Nick Diaz was arrested in Lodi, California for DUI and attempting to destroy evidence when he tried to make himself vomit to eliminate any indication of alcohol consumption.
Diaz Faces Second DUI Charge in a Year
At a traffic stop in Lodi on September 6, Diaz was stopped at around 2 a.m. Law enforcement noted that Diaz seemed intoxicated and took him to a local jail. While at the jail, Diaz was given the option of receiving a blood or breath test. He chose a breath test and asked to go to the restroom as the test was being set up. He went to the bathroom escorted by officers and allegedly tried to flush alcohol from his system by forcing himself to vomit.
As a result of this attempt, Diaz has been charged with misdemeanor DUI, destroying evidence, obstructing a police investigation, and driving with a suspended license.
Diaz has a history of DUI arrests. In November 2013, Diaz was arrested for DUI with an alcohol level above .08% and unsafe speed for road conditions. When Diaz failed to show up to multiple court dates for this arrest, he was also charged with failing to appear after a written promise.
Diaz was released for the most recent DUI arrest and UFC is launching their own investigation into the incident. This comes a few months before one of the biggest fights of his career.
