One man not only put himself in danger, but a one-year-old child as well. Police in San Leandro, California detained the young driver after he nearly struck a police officer directing traffic around the scene of a different crime. According to the police report, 21-year-old R.A. was witnessed driving through a stop sign and almost sideswiping an officer standing in the street. Law enforcement caught up with him a few blocks later and asked R.A. to pull over. After they stopped him, it quickly became apparent to the officers the R.A. was driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol. There were three other people in the vehicle with R.A., including his one-year-old son.
R.A. now faces multiple charges including violating parole, DUI and child endangerment. In addition to R.A. being on parole, one of his passengers was also wanted on an outstanding traffic warrant.
