New Legislature to Impact DUI Offenders in California

Are you a resident of California? If so, you need to familiarize yourself with new laws that will be enacted in 2012. Last year the state legislature was hard at work renovating existing laws. Several important changes were voted upon that will go into effect this year.

One of the changed laws pertained to those who are arrested and convicted of DUI. As it stands, people who have been convicted of driving under the influence cannot drive for a period of one year. The new law will allow people to apply for driving privileges after a period of three months.

This does not guarantee that they will be granted the right to drive, however. Those that qualify may also have to have an ignition-interlock device installed in their vehicle. This will prevent future drunk-driving incidents from occurring while the person is still in their probationary period.

Do you have questions related to DUI or a recent DUI arrest? If so, get immediate answers by contacting the Law Offices of Virginia L. Landry today to set up a time to meet with an Orange County DUI lawyer from our firm.
