DUI Arrests Increased over Christmas this Past Year

The holidays are for fun and celebrations, some of which lead to DUI arrests. The state of California saw in increase in drunk driving arrests this year over Christmas weekend.

According to the California Highway Patrol, there were more drunk drivers apprehended on mountain roads this year when compared to the previous year. Seven people were arrested for DUI this year when just three were taken into custody during the holidays of 2010. Realizing that the holidays often means more drunk drivers. More than 80 percent of available police officers in the San Bernardino Mountains were assigned to patrol the area.

The next period of maximum enforcement patrol was over the New Year's Eve weekend. The figures for that weekend have not yet been released but there are likely to have been a few DUI arrests for that weekend as well.
