Family Blames Police for Death

The legal team investigating the death of a young woman last week in Illinois caught a huge break in the case.

Last Wednesday, a judge ruled that a video tape containing surveillance from the gas station where the victim was last seen by officers could not be destroyed. This tape is believed to show footage of the 25-year-old victim being considerably intoxicated. This is important to the investigation as the young woman died after she walked onto an interstate and was hit by a car.

The family of the victim hopes to place the blame of her death on the police department for failing to protect the victim from herself. Police reports show that after the young woman was released from custody for a DUI charge, she was driven to and deposited at a gas station, albeit at her own request. She claimed that nobody could come pick her up at the police station so officers gave her a courtesy ride to the gas station.
