Man Stopped for DUI for Carpool Lane Violation

In case you were wondering, dogs do not count towards occupants in the carpool lane in California. One man learned that lesson the hard way this week in California.

When officers first spied the man and his dog in the carpool lane, they pulled him over to discuss the rules of the highway. However, they quickly realized that the man was driving under the influence of alcohol. Their suspicions were confirmed after he failed the field sobriety tests.

To make matters worse, the man not only did not have a license on him, but a records check revealed that his license had actually expired in 1997. He then claimed to have a Massachusetts license as well, but that license was suspended in the system.

The driver was then taken into custody on the charges of driving while suspended and DUI.
