County Gets Grant to Combat DUI

Thanks to a grant from one agency in California, one county will be stepping up efforts to crack down on drunk driving.

The grant, worth $174,000, will go mainly to support the DUI enforcement efforts. Although this is less than the county received last year, it is enough to help fund efforts to reduce DUI arrests. These include home visits to convicted offenders to frequent drug and alcohol testing to ensure that offenders are sticking to the terms of their probation.

Those offenders that have three of more misdemeanor DUI arrests on their record should not be indulging in alcohol at all, even when not driving. If an offender is found to be drinking alcohol despite the terms of their probation, they could be sent back to jail for probation violation.
