Police Investigating Serious Collision

Police in Vail are investigating a crash that occurred on South Frontage Road that killed a man from California and brought vehicular charges against a local man.

A call was placed around 1:50 a.m. led officers to Lewis Edward Cook, III, 32, who was laying unresponsive on the side of the road. Although they attempted to perform CPR he was pronounced dead at the scene. The police believe that Cook was walking along the roadside when David Matthew Perzanowski, 29, struck him with his 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Luckily for Perzanowski he remained at the scene of the crime, otherwise he would have been charged with hit-and-run as well. As it stands he faces charges of vehicular manslaughter and DUI. Perzanowski is currently being held in a Vail jail until he is transferred to Eagle County Detention Center. His bail is $15,000.
