DUI Patrols Scheduled for St. Patrick's Day

Knowing just how rowdy and intoxicated St. Patrick's Day revelers can get, a specialDUI strike team of police will be patrolling downtown Cotati. Other officers will be stations in areas around Sonoma County where high incidents of DUI arrests and collisions have been reported. This is all part of the effort of the county's "Avoid the 13" DUI Task Force.

The strike team is comprised of officers from the California Highway Patrol, Sebastopol, Cotati, Sonoma State University and Petaluma police departments. They will be especially on the lookout for "Cotati Crawl" participants.  Funding for this task force comes from a grant from the state's Office of Traffic Safety via the National Highway Safety Administration.

According to Cotati Police Chief Michael Parish, "Driving buzzed or drunk is simply not worth the risk."
