DUI Offender Faces Multiple Charges

After police witnessed him driving 60 mph in a 35 mph zone in Niles, Ill., police detained Kenneth Perera on multiple charges.

The 34-year-old appeared confused and smelled of alcohol when police finally pulled him over.  Just before they had witnessed him cross the center lane of Milwaukee Avenue, make an illegal left turn in addition to other erratic traffic movements.  The responding officers proceeded to give him field sobriety tests which were all failed.

In addition to failing these tests Perera told police that he did not have a license. When checking their computer database the officers found that he had a suspended license.  At the end of the night Perera was charged with speeding, driving while license suspended, DUI, driving on the wrong side of the road, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a traffic control device.
