Apple Won't Sell DUI Apps

After pressure from multiple sources, Apple announced this week that it will now allow any more apps that focus ondriving under the influence (DUI) checkpoints.

The updated App Store Review Guidelines now includes Section 22.8, which states that "apps which contain DUI checkpoints that are not published by law enforcement agencies, or encourage and enable drunk driving, will be rejected." However, other apps that target speed traps, such as Trapster, are still available on the website. In some states, such as California, law enforcement agencies are required by law to reveal the general location of DUI checkpoints ahead of time.

Google and RIM have yet to reveal any changes to their current DUI apps, despite constant pressure from an ever-growing group of US senators.
