Police in Marin County Make 5 DUI Arrests

Officers in Marin County were busy last weekend after making five DUI arrests Friday night and Saturday morning. Two of these arrests were for underage DUI.

They were first called to the scene of an accident where a hit and run collision had occurred on N. San Pedro Road. The deputies were able to track the car believed to be responsible for the accident to the 300 block Vendola Drive shortly after. An 18-year-old was found to be driving the car at that time and was turned over to the Marin CHP to evaluate him for possible DUI. He was then arrested on suspicions of driving under the influence while under 21.

A few hours later the California Highway Patrol arrested another 18-year-old, this time from Novato, on suspicion of DUI, driving under the influence while under 21 and driving on a suspended driver's license. Although teenage arrests are not the focus of these crackdowns they are an increasing trend, according to the CHP.
