Police Catch DUI Offender at Scene of Accident

One criminal in Pacifica made it easy for local police to apprehend him when he later returned to the scene of the accident he caused.

Police were called to the scene of a possible DUI accident around 1:36 a.m. on Skyline Boulevard where they soon located the dead body of a man in the southbound lanes. The California Highway Patrol quickly notified the Pacifica police department who began their investigation.

The suspect came back thirty minutes later and identified himself as Leopoldo Tobilla, the man who struck the victim. He appeared to be intoxicated so officers arrested him on suspicion of DUI resulting in fatal injury, as well as vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of collision that led to a fatal injury.

Tobilla was taken to the San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City. The identity of the victim will not be released until his immediate family members have been notified.
