David Cassidy Sentenced for His DUI Offense

David Cassidy, 60, once a household name and role model, is now being seen in a different light as the news surfaces about his recent arrest. Cassidy's attorney entered a plea of no contest to the charge of driving under the influence.

As a result Cassidy was sentenced to one year probation and will not be able to drive for six months. As the former teen idol has no prior convictions and he was charged with just a misdemeanor, Cassidy did not have to appear in court himself.

Cassidy was arrested on Nov. 3 by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper when his Mercedes was spotted swerving across the road. The officer observed Cassidy riding on the shoulder rumble strip and then outside the lane near Fort Pierce. He then got back onto the highway, crossed over the center line and attempted to take a southbound entrance ramp, cutting off another vehicle in the process.

The arresting officers reported administering several field sobriety tests, all of which Cassidy failed. He also registered a 0.14 blood-alcohol level which is above the state limit of 0.8.
