Christina Aguilera Faces Public Intoxication Charge

After staying out of the public eye post-divorce, Christina Aguilera surfaces again, this time for a public intoxication charge.

The actress/singer was held on Tuesday morning for her own safety until she recovered from her drunken state. Her boyfriend, however, could face charges of DUI pending investigation. According to Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore, "We have no desire to prosecute, none whatsoever. It was just for a public safety issue. When [Aguilera] was able to navigate and to think on her own…she was released."

When police came upon the couple Aguilera was a passenger in the car driven by boyfriend Matthew Rutler. Deputies noticed that the car was being driven erratically around 2:45 a.m., prompting them to pull it over. The arresting officers did say that although Aguilera was "incapacitated" she was completely cooperative.
