Officers Make Several Arrests in Costa Mesa

Officers in Costa Mesa made several DUI arrests this weekend at a DUI-driver's license checkpoint.

The Costa Mesa Police Department, along with the California Highway Patrol, arrested six motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol. Of the nearly 2,127 vehicles that went through the checkpoint on Saturday, over 600 were screened. Of those, 12 drivers had their licenses investigated and nine were asked to perform field sobriety tests. By the end of the night 11 vehicles were towed and 13 citations had been issued. 

Checkpoints like these have been funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety via a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
