Man Assaults Officer during DUI Incident

Officers with the California Highway Patrol had their hands full with one man while they attempted to arrest him for DUI.

A call was placed to the department around 11:30 a.m. about a man attacking his red Pontiac with a baseball bat. When officers arrived they discovered Sergio Castillo hitting his own car. When they tried to arrest him on suspicion of driving under the influence Castillo responded by kicking one officer in the face. Even after officers were able to detain him and bring him to Dominican Hospital for chemical testing, he again tried to assault an officer.

The Live Oak man was already on probation for driving under the influence, meaning that officers had more than enough reason to arrest him. They tacked on charges of resisting arrest, battery on a peace officer and suspicion of DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.15.
