Collision Results in Injuries and DUI Arrest

Last week a serious traffic collision on US-101 led to serious injuries and one man receiving a felony DUI arrest.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Ronald G. Hernandez was traveling southbound in a silver 2008 Toyota Tacoma when he lost control of the vehicle. It rolled over and came to a stop, blocking both lanes of US-101 southbound. After getting a call about the accident, the Santa Barbara County Sheriffs, American Medical Response and CHP responded to find serious injuries.

Hernandez's passenger at the time, Armen Sarkisan,suffered the worst injuries: lacerations to his upper body and fractured, nearly amputating his right leg. He is being treated at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The driver did not escape without injury, however, as he was taken to the same hospital with lacerations to his arms, face and upper body.

After investigating the case, officers with the CHP deduced that Hernandez was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
