Woman Hits Motorcyclist While DUI

This week, a 49-year-old man from Aromas died and his son suffered serious injuries when the motorcycle they were operating crashed with a car on Carlton Road. According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, it is believed that the driver of the car was under the influence.

Following the auto accident, 51-year-old Maria Villegas de Munoz was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence. The arresting officer, Hugh Holden, said that Munoz sustained minor injuries.

Munoz was traveling northbound on Carlton Road at 6:10 PM and the motorcycle was heading opposite direction. At this time, the California Highway Patrol is investigating the details of the accident and how it occurred.

Officer Holden said that the motorcycle driver was declared dead at the scene of the collision and his son was taken to Watsonville Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
