Female Officer Charged with Domestic Violence

In Lakeland, Florida, it has been reported by the Polk County Sheriff's Office that a police officer by the name of Sharonda Bryant was arrested on Sunday night after she hit her estranged husband.  Bryant is an employee of the Lakeland Police Department.

Police say the 38-year-old and her 40-year-old husband, Stevie Bryant, were arguing over a car.  The victim was trying to retrieve the vehicle and Sharonda was trying to prevent her husband from taking control.

The victim told police that his wife hit his arms and hands.  He said she pulled his hands away from the ignition and at some point, struck him on the left side of his face which led to the inside of his mouth being cut.

When police arrived at the scene, they arrested Sharonda and she was charged with domestic violence and later booked into Polk County Jail.  She has been suspended without pay pending an investigation.
