Police Helicopter Helps Officers Stop Suspect

In the city of San Diego, new sources report that the San Diego County Sheriff's Department helicopter, ASTREA, saw that a car was speeding in El Cajon.  The helicopter crew then alerted police of the vehicle's location.

The helicopter followed the speeding car as it ran through a red light at an intersection, through numerous stop signs and over speed bumps.  As the vehicle passed over the speed bumps, showers of sparks flew by West Main Street.

Finally, police were able to pull over the vehicle near the intersection of Jimzel Road and Primrose Drive.  Officers arrested an 18-year-old driver and two of the passengers in the vehicle, ages 19 and 18, were cited and released for possession of alcohol.  Another passenger in the vehicle, who was a juvenile, was arrested by police and later released to his parents.

Police are still investigating to see if the driver was DUI.
