Man Caught with 9 Pounds of Cocaine
On October 5th, at 9:45 AM, it was reported that officers with the Orange County Sheriff's Office Highway Interdiction Unit pulled over a 2006 Mercedes Benz. The vehicle was pulled over for two separate traffic violations that were committed while the driver was traveling on Interstate 10.
The vehicle was stopped on the shoulder of the road and police identified the driver as 37-year-old Christopher Johnson from Lake Wales, Florida. Johnson exited his car and attempted to run away on foot carrying a dark colored duffel bag.
After a short chase, Johnson was captured by police and was searched. Officers found 9 pounds of cocaine hydrochloride in the duffle bag that he was carrying. That discovery resulted in Johnson and his passenger, 38 year old Katina Boswell, being arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Johnson was later taken into custody by the Drug Enforcement Agency and will be transported to a Federal Holding Facility pending arraignment. Boswell was released pending further investigation.
