DUI Offender Leads Police on Chase

Last week, in Newport Beach, a woman who was suspected ofdriving under the influence led local police officers on a chase and refused to exit her vehicle for almost an hour after the chase had ended.

Police told news sources that the woman was 50-year-old Diane Beth Griswold.  She had been driving a Ford Escape when law enforcement agents try to pull her over on Wednesday evening.

Griswold was spotted around 10:40 PM near Jamboree Road and East Coast Highway.  It is said that the officer pulled her vehicle over, but she drove off northbound on Jamboree Road.

The SUV stopped at Archway and Portola Springs, but Griswold still refused to leave her vehicle for over an hour.  At 1:00 AM, officers broke the window of her vehicle and forced her out.  Paramedics arrived at the scene and treated Griswold before she was arrested by police.
