Bicyclist Killed by Impaired Driver

On Saturday, a 46 your bicyclist was killed on Agoura Road after being hit by a motor vehicle said the California Highway Patrol.  James Laing, a West Hills resident was riding his bicycle at around 3:45 PM.  He had just ridden past Liberty Canyon Road when he suddenly crash with a Mercedes Benz that was being operated by Stephanie Segal.

Officers say that 44-year-old Segal fled the scene of the accident and nearby witnesses chased her to a parking lot where they held her until police were able to arrive and arrest her.

After being thrown from his bicycle, Laing sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics.

Segal was later placed under arrest and charged with hit and run, DUI, and gross vehicular manslaughter.  She was held in jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
