86.5% of Californians Support DUI Checkpoints

According to California's Office of Traffic Safety, a large percentage of drivers throughout the state that were surveyed thoroughly support the use of DUI checkpoints.  This news was revealed after considering survey results which were released last week Thursday.

People collecting polls approach to 1,671 drivers at 60 gas stations throughout California in the month of July.  When asked, 86.4% of people who participated in the poll said they supported DUI checkpoints that are designed to catch drivers who are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Only 11.3% of people that were polled opposed checkpoints and 2.2% remained neutral when asked.

Despite the results of the poll, it is said that driving under the influence is not at the top of drivers list of concerns.  In fact, it ranked fourth with 10.5% of drivers saying DUI was the biggest road safety concern in California.  More drivers polled believed speeding and aggressive driving were more alarming.
