| Newport Beach Man Arrested After Crashing in Psychic Shop |
After driving off the road and hitting multiple objects before crashing through a storefront, a Newport Beach man has been arrested for
DUI and could be charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday when a man driving a 2009 Cadillac Escalade was driving down East Coast Highway and began to drift onto the sidewalk, consequently hitting a sign, tree, and planter. The driver then got control of the vehicle and reentered the highway. Not long after, he drifted off the highway and onto sidewalk again. This time he hit another tree, another sign, and eventually crashed into the Crystal Lotus psychic shop. According to Corona Del Mar Today, about a quarter of the SUV was inside of the building. The damage to the building is estimated at about $75,000.
The man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He could also face hit & run charges for failing to stop the first time he crashed into the tree, sign, and planter.
