Amy Locane Indicted for Aggravated Manslaughter

A star of the original Melrose Place finds herself at the middle of a vehicular manslaughter case this month. Amy Locane, 39, was indicted by a grand jury in Somerset County on charges of assault by automobile and aggravated manslaughter. She was released from jail after her bail of $50,000 was posted.

In early 2010 Locane was involved in a crash that killed another woman.  At that time she told police that she had had several glasses of wine before driving her car. As a result of her negligence she could be facing 10 to 30 years in prison for the manslaughter charge, and 5 to 10 years for the assault by auto charge.

Apparently her attorney, Blair Zwillman, is "surprised" by the aggravated manslaughter charge. He doesn't believe that "it is supported by the law or the facts and I think it constitutes over-reaching by the prosecutor's office."

He continues to state that his client should be let off of the manslaughter charges and has confidence in the legal system to do so.
